Today we want to introduce you to a show we both really enjoy: The Gilded Gentleman! It’s produced by our friends Tom Meyers and Greg Young, The Bowery Boys, and is hosted by social and culinary historian Carl Raymond. Carl’s episodes are often a delightful companion to the stories of our subjects and this doubleheader is no exception.

Act One: Invisible Magicians

Carl and author Esther Crain, The Gilded Age in New York 1870-1914, talk about the busy and often overlooked world of the Gilded Age servants who bring their wealthy bosses’ visions to life in their mansions and social events.

Act Two: Golden Plates and Dinners on Horseback

Carl shares the outrageous tales of over-the-top entertaining of the Gilded Age. Parties, dinners, and dishes that have literally gone down in history!

To learn more about The Gilded Gentleman, visit Carl’s website, The Gilded Gentleman Podcast, his Instagram, or subscribe to the podcast on your favorite podcatcher! And, as always we also strongly recommend The Bowery Boys New York City History Podcast!

Thank you, Carl, Greg, and Tom you all really are the best!
