Hi, I loved the show as usual, but I was rather shocked that Beckett said she doesn’t like the song “Baby, It’s cold outside.” That’s one of my favorites! I have 2 or 3 versions on my itunes! And I thought I might try to convince her of it’s greatness. First of all, originally Frank Loesser wrote the song and he and his wife would sing it at the end of their parties to gently let their guests know it was time to go home. (Which is way cute). So, the lyrics are meant to be playful. And, may I recommend you listen to the version sung by Alan Cumming and Lisa Minnelli (http://grooveshark.com/#/s/Baby+It+s+Cold+Outside/3lHwZ7?src=5) It’s a really fun version, and halfway through the song, they switch parts, so she’s doing the pursuing, so you might like it better — it’s more equal in the lasciviousness.
I know, Liz! Shocking! It made me question her taste in everything! hahaha…no, not really! Did not know that history of the song, but that is adorable! Thanks for the info and link!~ Susan (the one who likes that song)
My dad listened to his stereo without fail every Sunday morning, the one morning he was usually home. His records were the best part of the weekend and included Odetta, Ella, Etta, Lena and others. This was such a good podcast and brought back a lot of memories.
Thank you, Kelly! As you heard, we both had a really great time with this one. SO GLAD that you enjoyed it and it brought back such cool memories! Thanks for sharing that with us!
